Entering the Winter Season

Winter-Proof Your Lips: A Regenerating Lip Care Routine for Cold Weather

When the temperature drops, your lips are often the first to feel it dryness, flaking, and chapping can quickly take over. But with a few mindful steps, you can keep your lips soft, hydrated, and healthy all winter long.

1. Exfoliate Gently
Start by removing dry, dead skin with a mild lip scrub. You can use a store-bought one or make your own with sugar and honey. Exfoliate 1–2 times a week to allow your lip balm to absorb better.

2. Hydrate from Within
Cold air and indoor heaters can dehydrate your body faster than you realize. Drink enough water throughout the day to maintain moisture balance from the inside out.

3. Lock in Moisture
Use a nourishing lip balm rich in ingredients like shea butter, ceramides, or hyaluronic acid. Reapply as needed—especially before going out or sleeping—to keep your lips supple and protected.

4. Nighttime Repair
Before bed, layer on a thicker lip mask or balm to help regenerate your lips while you sleep. Overnight treatment helps restore moisture and heal cracks.

5. Avoid Licking Your Lips
It might feel soothing, but it actually worsens dryness. Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving your lips even more dehydrated.
